How to Get to Neuschwanstein Castle
The definitive guide: Munich to Hohenschwangau by train or car.
💡 Local Tip
Don't stress about the logistics. Our tour meets directly in Schwangau. We send you the exact Google Maps pin and train/bus connection that gets you there on time.
Option 1: By Train from Munich (Recommended)
The train is scenic, reliable, and stress-free. You need the **Bayern Ticket** (Bavaria Ticket), which covers your train and bus for the whole day.
- Start: Munich Central Station (München Hbf).
- Train: Take the RB68 or RE70/72 to **Füssen**. It runs hourly.
- Duration: Approx. 2 hours.
- Transfer: At Füssen station, walk to the bus platform.
- Bus: Take Bus 73 or 78 towards "Schlösser". Get off at **Hohenschwangau Neuschwanstein Castles**.
Option 2: By Car
Driving gives you flexibility but parking can be full by 10:00 AM in summer.
- Route: Take the A7 Autobahn south until it ends, then follow signs for Füssen / Schwangau.
- GPS: Set destination to "Alpseestraße 12, 87645 Schwangau".
- Parking: P4 (Alpsee) is best located for our meeting point. P1-P3 are also available.
- Cost: Approx. €10-15 per day. Cash is often faster at machines.
